Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger knew Chelsea would come to the Emirates Stadium on Sunday with a defensive mindset.
The Gunners were held to a 0-0 draw by the Premier League leaders which dashed their hopes of a late-season push for the title which the Blues currently have their fingers on.
Jose Mourinho's Chelsea went into the match with a 10-point lead over their nearest rivals and a draw would see them take a major step towards another premiership which Wenger acknowledged.
"In the first half we had the right intensity. We dropped that in the second half and came back into the right level for the last 20 minutes," he said.
"We could have finished the game off. (Mesut) Ozil had a great chance in the final minute of the game.
"But they came to defend well, and they did that well, and everybody knows that."
