Chelsea management have quickly dismissed claims from Belgium today that Eden Hazard has turned down a new contract offer.
The London Evening Standard says Hazard's father, Thierry, is reported to have told the Belgian publication Le Soir that the 26-year-old has rejected a contract offer from the Blues, but at this stage, no formal offer has been made.
The Belgium international is a long-term target of Real Madrid manager Zinedine Zidane.
Quotes attributed to Hazard Snr said that Hazard had “rejected a contract offer but that there had been “no contact with Real."
Chelsea will generally only commence formal negotiations with players who are in the final 24-months of their contracts. As such, an formal offer to Hazard is not expected before the end of the season.
Hazard's current contract expires in 2020, and is himself believed to be in no immediate rush to sign fresh terms.
