Chelsea boss Villas-Boas so easily could be taking charge of Inter Milan

Chelsea boss Andre Villas-Boas could easily have been in charge of Inter Milan this summer.

The Daily Star Sunday says Villas-Boas was on Inter's hit list to take over from Leonardo after his success with Porto last season, when he won four trophies.

But San Siro sporting director Marco Branca distanced the club from Villas-Boas just before he was unveiled at Stamford Bridge.

It's believed in Italy that Inter weren't prepared to pay the £13.2million compensation figure to Porto - and knew they'd lose out because Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich decided he would cough up to end the managerial uncertainty at Stamford Bridge.

Villas-Boas, 33, wasn't originally in the frame for Chelsea, as they wanted a more experienced boss - ideally the return of Turkey manager Guus Hiddink.

But Abramovich decided to go for AVB when the Hiddink situation dragged on.
