Chelsea boss Villas-Boas: Meireles great piece of business

Chelsea boss Andre Villas-Boas feels they did good business signing Raul Meireles.

Villas-Boas reckons it could be another month before he truly discovers what impact he has had on Chelsea since his summer arrival from Porto.

But he believes his deadline-day signing from Liverpool, Meireles, who is in line for his debut against Sunderland, will slot in perfectly to the new Blues he is trying to create.

He said: "Raul was an extremely good idea and a very good player.

"You see what type of player he was last year when he won the PFA fans player of the year.

"He can play in different positions in midfield and has very good timing of arrival in the box. And you saw the same against Arsenal for Liverpool.

"He can arrive at the correct time to score and assist.

"Raul is like Lamps, Ramires, Oriel Romeu, Mikel and Josh (McEachran) - always available for a pass and he fits our philosophy."
