Chelsea have made a late bid to win the race for Barcelona star Ronaldinho.

The Sun says Blues boss Phil Scolari asked the Barcelona playmaker, 28, to join in a personal call yesterday.

But Scolari's plea may have come too late as AC Milan believe they have agreed a three-year, £18m contract with the Brazil star.

Chelsea are prepared to pay the Italians a £15m fee and Ronaldinho £17.4m over the same period.

Manchester City made the top bid with £25m but the player does not want to go to Eastlands.
