In the future, David Luiz could again start in midfield for Chelsea according to manager Rafael Benitez.
The Brazilian defender was deployed in a more advanced role for the Blues as they beat CONCACAF champions Monterrey 3-1 in the FIFA Club World Cup semi-final on Thursday and Benitez suggests he is the type of player who can be used over a few different positions including central midfield.
"It's an option for the future, but it was mainly for this game," Benitez said.
"I know David from Benfica, where he was playing centre-back, left full-back, right full-back, in many positions.
"David is quick and can regain a lot of balls and, at the same time, can play passes to our players."
