Chelsea boss rules out Cole for Shakhtar meeting

Chelsea manager Roberto Di Matteo has confirmed that Ashley Cole will miss tomorrow night's Champions League meeting with Shakhtar Donetsk.

The reigning European champions host the Ukrainian outfit at Stamford Bridge in their fourth group stage fixture this season but will be without left-back Cole who has a minor hamstring injury.

"Ashley Cole won't be available tomorrow, he has a problem with his hamstring, shouldn't be out for long," said Di Matteo who will bring in Ryan Bertrand.

"Ryan Bertrand has always performed well for us when he's played and I have full confidence he will play a great game."

The Blues sit second on the Group E table on four points from three outings which has them three points in arrears of group leaders Shakhtar who won 2-1 when the two clubs met in Donetsk a fortnight ago.
