Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho believes John Terry was too soon in calling time on his career. Terry announced his international retirement last season.
Mourinho said: "If I was a football player I think I would wait for the national team to say 'we don't need you any more'. That's just my personal feeling. I would wait.
"For sure he has reasons that push him (to make) that decision."
Earlier this year it was suggested Terry would consider an international return, something Mourinho says is a matter for the player and Roy Hodgson.
The Chelsea boss said: "I'm not in favour or against. It's their decision."
