Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho is lining up a January bid for Porto defender Eliaquim Mangala. The Mirror says Mourinho was keen on the 22-year-old centre-half in the summer window, but could not get the deal done.

Mourinho wants to strengthen his defence and sees Mangala as the perfect solution as he is 6ft 2in while also boasting pace and power.

It is believed super-agent Jorge Mendes is working on a deal.

Porto insist Mangala has a £40m buy-out clause and while Chelsea will not go that high, they may be willing to offer £20m.
