Chelsea boss Mourinho takes veiled swipe at Tottenham's Vertonghen

Chelsea's Jose Mourinho has defended the Football Association's decision to no hand Fernando Torres any retrospective punishment.

Torres was sent off in Saturday's London derby clash with Tottenham at White Hart Lane after an incident with Jan Vertonghen but was cleared of any further action by the FA which was welcomed by Mourinho who felt the Spurs defender may have hammed it up.

"It doesn't surprise me," he told Sky Sports after seeing Chelsea beat Steaua Bucharest 4-0 in the Champions League on Tuesday night.

"The FA represents English football and in England they never punish on emotion.

"They punish when you don't respect the integrity of game by simulating."
