Garry Monk believes that the example of success set by Jose Mourinho is one that all managers are tying to emulate.

Monk will face the Portuguese boss on the opening day of the season as his Swansea City side travel to Stamford Bridge to take on Chelsea.

Ahead of the season-opening encounter, Monk complimented his managerial counterpart Mourinho who guided the Blues to the premiership last season.

Monks said: "I haven't had lots and lots of dealings with him but the times we have met and spoken he has been very humble, and very supportive towards me."

"That is important and you have to look at him as the benchmark for this league and his career in terms of what he delivers year in, year out. He is a great guy."
