Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho admits their pursuit of Manchester United striker Wayne Rooney is over.

Hours before a deal for Samuel Eto'o was confirmed, Mourinho revealed they would not be making a new offer for Rooney.

"Rooney. I told you what I have to say. I think I (made it) very, very clear that we didn't start the process (a third bid)," said Mourinho.

"We have nothing more to say. He's a Man United player and no more than that."
