Chelsea boss Guus Hiddink is delighted with the versatility of midfielder Michael Essien.

"Michael Essien's best position is in the inner midfield. I like to play with some options of systems, he can play in the inner midfield with two holding midfield players or with one holding and two more attacking," he told chelseafc.com.

"He was playing the other day more with width. That's also because we knew Nedved will play inside and create space for Molinaro, and that's why if you play with a striker there it is possible. It's the one-on-one fight, Molinaro against a striker, and then the possibility is that our right full-back might get confused whether he should stay in his area or go with Nedved into midfield.

"That was one of the reasons to go with Essien, because he can play on the inside and Bosingwa can go with the full-back. He can play in various spots."
