New York Read Bulls defender Matt Miazga is close to signing for Chelsea.

Chelsea manager Guus Hiddink has confirmed the club are closing in on a deal to bring Miazga to Stamford Bridge.

"He [Miazga] is a promising player," Hiddink said. "We're not rushing but he will be one of the squad members for the future.

"[He is a] young guy, stepping up to the national team. You can see what players are capable of in training."
