The Russian FA has said it wants current Chelsea boss Guus Hiddink to lead its campaign to host the 2018 or 2022 World Cup. Reuters reports that Russian FA general secretary Alexei Sorokin said, "We would like Guus to become an honorary ambassador of our World Cup campaign.
"We feel that his worldwide appeal would greatly enhance our chances to compete with other nations, such as England and Spain."
Sorokin said the federation would present its plan to Hiddink while he is in Moscow to prepare the Russia squad for next month's World Cup qualifier against Finland.
