Chelsea boss Di Matteo: No decision made over Cech surgery

Chelsea boss Roberto Di Matteo insists a decision is yet to be taken whether goalkeeper Petr Cech requires elbow surgery next summer.

The Czech Republic's team doctor claimed Cech would need to go under the knife on the long-standing problem after being given permission to sit out international friendlies for the foreseeable future.

Di Matteo said: "Petr's problem is an issue we've been managing. It's not decided yet whether he'll need anything done.

"It's something he's been playing with some period now and it's not an issue now.

"If he stays without pain, it's very possible he'll just play on like that.

"If not, the medical department in conjunction with the player will make a decision."
