Chelsea boss Roberto di Matteo feels the English game's authorities need to do better to help their clubs in Europe.

Chelsea face Tottenham in the FA Cup tomorrow just days out from a Champions League semifinal with Barcelona.

Di Matteo reiterated his belief that lessons must be learnt from the current situation we find ourselves in moving forward.

"The planning of the fixture list at the beginning of the season needs looking at, and it needs to be reviewed and changed so there's no overlapping for these occasions in future," he argued.

"English teams don't really get an advantage when they're involved in European competitions, so it's just a review to make sure those clubs involved get better fixtures and fixture dates.

"We have a good history in this competition, it's a domestic trophy, a tradition-rich trophy, it's well known all over world and I think it's a prestige to be able to win it."
