Antonio Conte insists David Luiz will be deployed in central defence for Chelsea.

The Brazilian made a sensational return to Stamford Bridge from French giants PSG in deadline day, two years after leaving West London in a £50million deal.

Ahead of Luiz's possible second debut for the Blues against Swansea City this weekend, Conte has dismissed suggestions that he may play the 29-year-old as a holding midfielder by making it clear that a centre-back role is the order of the day for Luiz.

"I think David Luiz is a centre-back, he's played a lot of games in that position," Conte told Chelsea TV.

"I know sometimes he's played as a central midfielder but in my mind the idea is to utilise him in the right position which, for me, is centre-back.

"He's played with Chelsea previously and he will bring a good personality."
