Chelsea boss Conte tells detractors: Don't write us off just yet

Managers are always pleased when their players give a good response under bad circumstances, and Antonio Conte is no different.

The Chelsea boss was delighted with how his team bounced back from the defeat against West Ham.

A 3-1 win at Huddersfield is a very impressive result, and the Blues are now level on points with second placed Manchester United in the Premier League table.

Conte spoke with reporters after the game, and had many good things to say about his side.

"To win in this way is very important because it improves our confidence, especially after a defeat against West Ham. In the last nine games, Chelsea won seven games, drew one game away against Liverpool, and we lost the last game against West Ham," he said.

"This is a big win. When you play two games away against West Ham and Huddersfield, on paper, I must be honest, you think maybe West Ham will be easier than Huddersfield."

"Instead we lost against West Ham, and tonight we won against Huddersfield. They are a really good team with a good coach and good organisation. To win away against Huddersfield is not simple. Sometimes we make the situation easier than the expectation."

Conte knows his side are in good form, after an indifferent start to the season. But they must maintain that form if they want to not only catch Manchester City, but keep pace with the teams vying for a top four Premier League position.

"We are on a good path in the league, but there is a team in this moment who are very difficult to stop, otherwise we would be fighting for the title with United, Arsenal, Tottenham and Liverpool," he continued.

"It doesn't mean we don't have to try to catch them, but we have to hope they have a big, big slip, and for us to win every game in this league."

Chelsea's chances of winning the league are very limited, and it would take an almighty mess at Manchester City for a double digit lead to go away. But the Blues will want a strong second half of the season, and a second place finish in the league.
