Chelsea boss Antonio Conte has met with Walter Sabatini in the past week in London.
Sabatini is set to be named new sports director at Inter Milan.
Gazzetta dello Sport says Sabatini has had dinner with Conte in London to discuss a five-year contract worth €70m (£59m) and an unlimited transfer budget.
Conte, who signed a three-year contract in the summer, has repeatedly stated his commitment to the Stamford Bridge club and Chelsea are ready to improve his contract.
Inter recognise luring Conte back to Serie A after just one year will be difficult and have an alternative shortlist including Diego Simeone, Luciano Spalletti and Unai Emery.
