Chelsea boss Antonio Conte and club owner Roman Abramovich have already held a first round of talks over the manager's future.
TMW says the pair met last week, in the aftermath of victory over Watford and the club's title celebrations.
Abramovich is eager to upgrade Conte's contract, but the Italian is seeking assurances over transfer market management.
The Italian has told Abramovich he's tired of having to work with Blues director Marina Granovskaia as a go-between when discussing transfers and wants direct access to the Russian billionaire.
Abramovich, for now, prefers the current arrangement, but will consider Conte's request before the pair meet again.
With Inter Milan hovering in the background, Abramovich faces the prospect of having to lessen the powers of close ally Granovskaia if he wants Conte to stay beyond next week's FA Cup final.
