Chelsea manager Antonio Conte is confident of landing Juventus centre-back Leonardo Bonucci in a £48m deal.
According to Tribal columnist Emanuele Giulianelli, the Blues are prepared to offer the Italy stalwart a four-year deal worth £115,000-per-week.
The 30-year old is also a target for Real Madrid, Manchester City and Manchester United.
But it is believed that due to Bonucci's relationship with Conte – the pair worked together at Juve and with Italy – Chelsea will have first preference.
Bonucci spoke fondly of the ferocity and aggression of the Premier League in April.
He said: "It fascinates me. When I can, I watch English games, and not only for the quality of the players on display.
"I'm hot-headed, and I love the passion that exudes from their packed stands.
"It's for that kind of thing that I'm the first on the training pitch and the last to return to the changing room."
However, Bonucci's son has undergone extreme health complications this past year, making it difficult to envisage the Italian wanting to ship his family to another country.
