Ross Barkley is set to make his Chelsea debut in their FA Cup replay with Norwich City.
Antonio Conte confirmed on Friday that Barkley - who signed for Chelsea in a £15m deal from Everton last week - is not yet 100 per cent fit enough to feature in Chelsea's next game, which is at home to Leicester City in the Premier League this weekend.
But Conte suggested he could play Barkley for the first time when Chelsea take on Norwich in their FA Cup third-round replay at Stamford Bridge next Wednesday.
Speaking to reporters at Cobham, Conte said of Barkley: "I am clear [about when he'll play].
"I think that, maybe, in the next game against Norwich he could be available and in contention. I hope.
"If he continues in this way then why not? He's not ready 100 per cent but he could start to help us."
