Chelsea boss Conte can have his Diego Costa revenge over Atletico Madrid plan

Diego Costa is set to stay with Chelsea - for the first-half of the season.

The Spain striker and Atletico Madrid have reached agreement where Costa would move to Spain in January.

Costa was hoping to sign for Atletico and spend the first six months on-loan elsewhere due to their transfer ban. However, FIFA regulations have prevented such an arrangement.

Instead, Costa will remain at Stamford Bridge until Atletico are free to work the transfer market in the New Year.

It will mean Costa not being considered for Champions League football at Chelsea, so he is not Cup tied for Atletico. It could even see him not be registered by Blues manager Antonio Conte for the Premier League.
