Chelsea boss Benitez ready for Liverpool return at Everton

Chelsea boss Rafa Benitez is ready to return to Liverpool for their clash with Everton.

The former Liverpool manager is enjoying life in London but has revealed his young family will continue to be based on the Wirral.

Spaniard Benitez even nipped home for Christmas dinner before heading to Norfolk for Chelsea's 1-0 Boxing Day win at Norwich.

He said: "It is always something special when you go to Liverpool. My connection with the city is very strong.

"But I am a professional. I was in Tenerife, I lived in Valencia and, obviously, Madrid. Liverpool was fantastic. Milan was fine for five or six months.

"As a professional, my family understand I have to move around but they still live up there.

"My children are still at school so they have to stay there. When you have children, what you do at certain ages is important. Mine are 10 and 13, nearly 14.

"They have been there for eight years so it is difficult to move the family and you have to do something for them.

"So I have to move around on my own and manage to go for Christmas dinner or whatever.

"I went home this year. My wife cooked me a Spanish omelette!"
