Chelsea boss Rafa Benitez faces Spanish competition for the Schalke post.
Estadio Deportivo says Benitez is a candidate for the Schalke position, along with former Athletic Bilbao coach Joaquin Caparros.
Benitez's contract expires at Chelsea next month and along with Schalke, he was also linked with Everton today.
