Chelsea boss Rafa Benitez has defended comments about John Terry's status.

After their FA Cup semifinal defeat, Benitez to defend comments made in an interview which suggested the inspirational Chelsea skipper was incapable of featuring in two games a week.

"I am surprised with the headline," he said.

"I tried to say that for some players, to play two games a week is not easy.

"It depends on the condition of each player.

"At this moment, Cahill, Ivanovic and Luiz are doing well, so we have to manage the squad."
