Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho has ruled out allowing Michael Ballack to join Champions League rivals Real Madrid.

"It was an easy decision to leave Ballack out because it was not my decision," said Mourinho of the decision to leave Ballack off of their Champions League squad list.

"It was the medical department's decision.

"There is one thing I can guarantee to you - I would never speak about Chelsea having a Real Madrid player in January. That's for sure."
