Chelsea boss Andre Villas-Boas is set to bench Fernando Torres for their new season kickoff.
The Mirror says AVB is determined to get off to a flying start, and while he sprang strongly to Torres' defence after the striker's misfiring displays on the club's Asian tour, Villas-Boas has made it clear that he will take all the decisions on who plays.
And that is likely to mean Didier Drogba getting the nod as the spearhead in Villas-Boas' preferred 4-3-3 system when Chelsea kick off their campaign at Stoke in eight days' time, with Torres among the replacements.
Torres has scored just once in 18 appearances since his British record £50million move from Liverpool in January.
