Chelsea boss Carlo Ancelotti wanted to spend big last summer, it has been revealed. The Mail on Sunday says Ancelotti is considering his long-term future at Chelsea because of cutbacks being made as the club attempts to meet their goal of breaking even and staying on the right side of Europe's financial strictures.
Ancelotti's personal preference last June is said to have been to bid for Fernando Torres up front and one of Daniele de Rossi, Bastian Schweinsteiger or Mesut Ozil in midfield.
But once inquiries were made it was clear none of those players fit with the goal of ensuring Chelsea meet UEFA's new rules by 2012.
