Chelsea boss Ancelotti pleased with Turnbull debut
Chelsea boss Carlo Ancelotti was pleased for Ross Turnbull after their 4-1 thumping of West Ham United.
Turnbull made his Blues debut against West Ham, and while he looked competent enough, he had little to do.
His inexperience, particularly when it comes to the Champions League, may be a concern for the Blues against Inter Milan.
Chelsea are without calf injury victim Petr Cech and his deputy Hilario, has a groin strain. But Chelsea may well try to rush Hilario back to full fitness in time although Ancelotti continued to maintain Turnbull will play.
"We can play with a good goalkeeper on Tuesday," he added. "Ross was not involved a lot of time in the game but he did a good save in the last minute of the match.
"He played with confidence and a good game. There was no worry. This is important. he deserved to play this game because he trained very well in the last month to improve his quality. We have confidence in him. I think he will play Tuesday."

I totally agree. Ross Turnbull is not the answer. Don't have a clue as to why Chelsea signed him. Still... he can only get better can't he?
Ross... I know!
One Swallow does not make a summer.
OK. I understand that Ancelotti is trying to build Russ's confidence here. However the First thing he had to do yesterday was to pick the ball out of the net. It could have been 1-0 to the Hammers before that when that geezer shot over the bar. Turnbulls positioning for that was poor. The next thing turnbull had to do was in the 90th minute. It was a fair save, nothing special but he did the job.
I fear teams stronger than a poor West Ham side will exploit him. If we have no choice but to play him on Tuesday then so be it. If Cech is even half fit (Reports say he WILL play against Blackburn next weekend)... then Cech must play.
Chelsea need a good 2nd goalkeeper. Neither Hilario or Turnbull fit that Bill. The only good thing for Russ is his height. His positioning needs a lot of work, although I was more impressed with his kicking yesterday. But anybody who has watched him in the reserves this season will understand what I am saying. I hope Ross does improve. However I question Chelsea's mentality about signing a keeper who could not keep his place in a relegated side and also oe who let in many goals against Chelsea in 2 matches last season.
I hear it was to do with the fact he is English and it was because of the Champions league but this is a feeble excuse. There are better English keepers out there we could have tried to sign.
The reason Ross only let in the 1 goal yesterday was because our back 4 were awesome... West Ham hardly gota look in. Alex must play ahead of Carvalliho. The difference in our defence since he has come in, is brilliant, as it was when he played last year.
Terry and Ivanovic were pure class too. Up front, Malouda possibly played his best game for Chelsea.
Chelsea were brilliant yesterday, unless you look at it from Charlie Nicholas's point of view when, on Sky TV, he said we didn't play well! What do you expect from a biased Gooner eh?
