Chelsea boss Carlo Ancelotti has likened Nicolas Anelka to Dutch legend Marco van Basten.

There is a debate raging in France as to the whether Anelka has the qualities to start at the tip of their forward three, but his Chelsea boss is in no doubt.

Ancelotti was quick to compare him to Van Basten "for his elegance", adding: "He's excellent when used deep. His speed hurts. He is very useful with his back to goal, and in front of goal he has composure and is effective."
