Chelsea boss Carlo Ancelotti has already held lengthy chats with Frank Lampard and John Terry ahead of preseason training kicking off.

The News of the World says one of the first things he did after being confirmed in the job was to phone Chelsea captain Terry and vice-captain Lampard for a long chat with the club's two most influential players.

He also asked Chelsea to forward all the medical records of the players - including an analysis of their personalities and characters. Ancelotti then requested detailed DVDs of every member of the squad, not just during matches but in training.

And for the past few weeks he has studiously gone through all of the information to ensure he knows as much as possible about the players. That's how determined he is to make a winning start in SW6.
