Chelsea boss Carlo Ancelotti believes Roma can hang onto their leadership and win the Serie A title.

The Giallorossi leapfrogged over Inter Milan after victory against Atalanta on Sunday.

Speaking to Radio anch'io lo sport, Ancelotti said: "It's surprising that Roma have overtaken Inter. It has been an extraordinary season with Ranieri who has done things that no one expected.

"The Giallorossi haven't missed a beat, it has been a run of great quality.

"Now comes the difficult part because keeping the lead at the top of the table with only a one-point advantage is not at all easy.

"Ranieri being Roman is different from all the others. Roma needed a Coach like this. He has managed to make the group compact.

"The club made the right decision to hire him, he knows Roma very well. I am very tied to Roma. Bruno Conti and I often talk: I am happy with the season they are having."
