Chelsea have made an approach to Parma for young midfielder Luca Cigarini.

The attacking midfielder is regarded as among the brightest young talents in Italy and is being made available by Parma after their relegation.

Chelsea face competition from Spain's Villarreal, among several clubs, for Cigarini.
