Chelsea ace Torres admits being fortunate for club and country

Chelsea striker Fernando Torres admits its been a special 2012 for him.

The former Atletico Madrid and Liverpool man admits he has been blessed to be around at such a fruitful time for both club and country.

"I think we are very lucky to be born in a such a good generation of Spanish players," the 28-year-old told chelseafc.com. "I was in Euro 2004 in Portugal and the 2006 World Cup in Germany, when we went out in the group stage of the first one and the last 16 of the second one. At that time, we never could have imagined that this generation of players would come and we would be able to win two Euros and one World Cup and we still have time to win some more.

"The only thing now is to enjoy the time we can play together and keep believing we can win another World Cup, to make it four in a row. Nobody did three in a row, but four in a row would be a record.

"As for Chelsea, having the chance to win trophies was one of the main reasons I came here and in my first full season we won two trophies, which is the thing I was looking for when I first came. But now I have more objectives and more personal targets, so this season is going to be very important for me."
