Chelsea midfielder Frank Lampard says under Fabio Capello England now have a great chance of winning the World Cup.

Lampard, who has scored 20 times for England in 77 games, is confident that hard-line Capello is the right man to lead England to glory.

Speaking in GQ Sport magazine, he heaped praise on the manager. He said: "I think he's brilliant.

"He is very straight, very firm. You only have to look at what he has achieved in his career and at the way England are performing now to realise that this is the right way for us to go.

"There is definitely a self-belief there. I hate to sound like I'm getting carried away, but there is a new-found confidence about the team.

"Before, we knew we were good players, but I don't think we quite believed in ourselves as a squad.

"Now, we can lose what might be considered three or four key players and bring in others who do just as good a job and get us a result."
