Chelsea ace Didier Drogba is ready to challenge Manchester United star Wayne Rooney for this season's Player of the Year gongs.

Both strikers will be up for the PFA and Footballer Writers' awards this season.

Drogba told chelseaTV: "It is a new challenge and would be great but for that I think we have to win something like the Champions League. It is very important for me and the club to win major trophies first and then to be Player of the Year would be fantastic."
