Diego Costa has denied claims that he apologised to Chelsea supporters for eliminating them from the Champions League last season.
The Brazilian-born Spanish striker, who signed with the Blues this summer, scored from the penalty spot as former club Atletico Madrid defeated the west Londoners 3-1 in the semi-finals of Europe's premier club competition in April this year.
Spanish champions Atleti went on to lose to Real Madrid in the final before Costa departed to make Stamford Bridge his new home for £32million.
It has become apparent that Costa has told Chelsea supporters that he is sorry for his contribution to their premature exit last term but he insists those words were never uttered.
"It is impossible that something against Atleti comes out of my mouth," Costa told Tiempo de Juego.
"How am I going to speak ill of a team that have given me everything? I'll be careful and just say things when they have to be given."
Costa has started life in England in fine fashion with seven goals in five Premier League outings for the table-topping Blues.
