Chelsea academy chief Bath full of pride over Bertrand Munich performance

Chelsea academy chief Neil Bath admits they were proud of Ryan Bertrand after his performance in the Champions League final.

The young left-back was a shock selection for the victory over Bayern Munich.

"Ryan must have been thinking nine months ago will I ever get my chance at Chelsea," Bath told chelseafc.com, "but he did well in pre-season, got a new contract and started to get involved in more games. In the games he played he did well but to start in the Champions League Final is unbelievable for him, and not playing left-back either!

"Everyone in the Academy was absolutely buzzing for him and I will always remember when he came off and the crowd were singing his name. It was quite a special moment but he was so focused that when I spoke to him afterwards he didn't remember that."
