You can still can count his senior games on one hand, but Charly Musonda is already a hero for Real Betis fans.
The 19 year-old is on-loan from Chelsea to the end of the season, though sports chief Eduardo Macia is already talking about extending that deal into next term. And for Beticos, that decision can't come soon enough.
Musonda has already drawn comparisons with Denilson amongst the Betis support, who have quickly put together a song for the Belgian.
Among the lines in the ditty is "he looks like Neymar but is much cheaper".
"I find it fantastic," smiles Musonda. "It's good for me for fans to say that. Such comparisons make me feel good.
"For me, Neymar is the best player in the world at this time. I like how he expresses himself on the field, but I'm not Neymar and Neymar is not Musonda. We're different. I have my own style."
Known as a central attacking midfielder, Musonda has been utilised on the left flank of Betis' midfield by coach Juan Merino. The teen has smoothly re-adjusted his game, displaying a great range of tricks and the ability to go past his opposition fullback consistently.
Helping Musonda adapt has been the presence of fans hero Joaquin, a player the Belgian admits inspired him as a junior.
Musonda's father, after hanging up his boots, was given a front office job at Anderlecht and at nine years of age, Charly saw the Belgians meet Betis in the Champions League from the director's box.
"I was at that game. It is the first memory I have of Betis. There I saw Joaquín play live. Betis had a great team," recalled Musonda, who is now working alongside the Spanish veteran.
"He's a little crazy (laughs), but he is exceptional. He has great talent and it is a dream come true to share a locker room and to learn from him."
Against Sporting Gijon, Musonda found himself hacked down ten times - the most in one La Liga game this season. Even putting the dazzling Neymar in the shade.
"If in the future I can get to the highest level, I think I can do it, I will have my own image," he says. "I don't want to say I'm the new Neymar or the new (Eden) Hazard. I have my style and what I care about is what I do, not what people say.
"I am still very young and the best players are not at my age."
Merino, like the Beticos support, is already a big fan. It took barely a training session to convince the coach his new signing was ready.
"He trained only a week. But I could see a very bold player, with great enthusiasm and good qualities for a very young lad," said Merino.
"We thought we'd have to be careful with him over the pressure from the fans, but we have seen he has taken to this with ease and tranquility.
"With his play, he has earned the affection of the fans."
Another coach happy seeing Musonda launch his senior career at Betis is Enzo Scifo, Belgium's U21 manager.
Scifo is convinced by Musonda's talent and potential, declaring the Chelsea midfielder a natural matchwinner.
"He is able to win a game by himself," says the Red Devils legend.
"With him, nothing surprises me. This is a player who is able to win a game by himself. And he can do at any club. He can also do it Chelsea."
Scifo added: "(Betis) was the best choice because Spanish football suits him. Now, he will have to be more demanding of himself.
"He's a good guy with a good mentality. He is far from being a brat."
Early impressions suggest Scifo's assessment is spot on. Certainly, Musonda agrees.
"Betis is good for my football, my qualities and I like the city, the people. The coach gives me a lot of advice and I have the confidence of Eduardo Macia. I am happy.
"Chelsea told me to come, play and learn. It's what I'm doing. In the future if we carry on like this it would be good to continue, but now I'm here to win the next game."
Musonda may only be focused on the next game, but inside the Betis boardroom they're already thinking longer term.
"With Musonda, there is a determining factor. That is, the responsibility that we assume in caring for this talent that Chelsea FC has left in our hands," says Macia, formerly on the staff at Liverpool.
"If he improves and Chelsea FC considers it appropriate to continue his growth here, there will be no problem for him to continue with us."
