Charlton Athletic teenager Jonjo Shelvey is on the verge of signing with Liverpool according to reports.

Reds boss Rafael Benitez has been in talks with the 18-year old and his representatives and it is believed a deal will be completed in the next 24 hours.

Shelvey is a highly-rated midfielder who made his debut as a 16-year old for the Addicks and has been attracting interest ever since.

Benitez is expected to pay £3million for his signature which will begin with an initial £1.7million before paying the rest down the track. The deal is also believed to be for five years.
