Charlton defeat Chelsea in weekend friendly

Championship Charlton warmed up for Friday's derby against Crystal Palace over the weekend by beating Chelsea 3-2 in a behind-closed-doors friendly. "Chelsea had a number of young players on show, as well as a few with first-team experience, but I can't fault my side's efforts," Addicks boss Chris Powell told the club website.

"It was also good to see Dale Stephens back in a red shirt. After all the speculation last week, he showed what a good professional he is and supplied some telling passes.

"Greeny (Danny Green) took his goal well, Dorian Dervite's distribution from the back was excellent and Ricardo (Fuller) showed us again what he can do.

"The whole team did well, and it was a good way to finish a hard-working week. Now we will get ready and prepared for the big derby against Crystal Palace."
