Charlton boss Parkinson keen to keep Zheng Zhi

Charlton Athletic are reluctant to part with their China star Zheng Zhi. The 27-year-old has managed just two appearances this season due to a foot injury but has been pencilled in for a return before the end of the month.

Zheng was linked with a move away from The Valley over the summer, with West Brom known admirers, but Addicks boss Phil Parkinson is hopeful he can fend off any January interest.

"ZiZi is probably one of the best midfielders in the division and that's good news for us," said Parkinson.

"Logic tells me ZiZi has been injured most of the season so teams won't have been able to see him play. I'd love to keep him but I'm also a realist.

"When he comes back it will be like having a new player and he'll be back by the end of January."
