Charlton Athletic boss Alan Pardew hopes to convince Portsmouth striker Andy Cole about a move to The Valley.
Cole's wage demands have put off Hull, who will now move for Leeds striker Richard Cresswell instead, but Pardew has money to spend from Darren Bent's £14million move to Tottenham.
