Charleston Battery midfielder Nicki Paterson is trialling with New York Red Bulls.

The 27 year-old Scot should learn in the next 48 hours if he's done enough to win a MLS contract.

"The deadline is Friday with the window, so we just said after the final, they played Wilmington, we said let's get him in and he's done very good for Charleston,'' NYRB coach Hans Backe told the New York Post.

"(He's) technically very good, phenomenal work rate. I would say that he's a box-to-box midfielder, even if with Charleston he almost had a free role you could say, just moving wide left, wide right, central.''
