Changes made to Chivas USA's off-field operations

Chivas USA announced today changes to the Red-and-White organization. Jorge Vergara and Angelica Fuentes, owners of the Rojiblancos, have named Jose David as President of the team and appointed Jose Luis Real to supervise its on-the-field soccer operations.

The changes are effective as of today. Born on Feb. 6, 1953 in Veracruz, Mex., David is a well-respected businessman with extensive experience both in Mexico and the U.S., specializing in administrative and organizational work. For the last 13 years David has resided in the U.S., seven of which while working in the Los Angeles market as his base of operations. During his career David has applied his expertise with a number of Mexican multi-national corporations, including Megamex Foods, LLC, a subsidiary of Herdez del Fuerte as financial director, and serving as president with Grupo KUO (formerly known as Grupo DESC). David comes to Chivas USA with an equally impressive scholastic background, having earned his MBA from Cranfield School of Management in England and having also graduated from the Universidad Iberoamericana, where he obtained his degree in Business Administration.

"I am very proud to be part of the Grupo Omnilife-Chivas," said David. "Definitely the goal is to be a leader in Major League Soccer. We will be generating a new era in the organization similar to the standards of success of Jorge Vergara and Angelica Fuentes."

In addition to the naming of David as club President, Jose Luis Real, commonly known in the soccer world as El Guero Real, has been appointed the vital role of supervising Chivas USA's on-the-field soccer operations. In regards to the appointment of Real, David stated, "Real will supervise all soccer operations for Chivas USA - including coaching staff, players, Academy and player development. Real will continue to reside primarily in Guadalajara (Mexico), where he currently is the Director of Athletic Development for Chivas, but will visit Los Angeles with regularity to make his appropriate supervisions accordingly with the area of soccer operations," added David.

Jose Luis Real was born in Guadalajara on June 6, 1952 and is currently the Director of Athletic Development for Club Deportivo Guadalajara, which plays in the Liga MX of Mexico-s Primera División. From 2009-2011 Real served as head coach of Guadalajara, and led the squad to the playoffs during the Bicentenario 2010 and the Clausura 2011 seasons. Real was also head of Guadalajara's youth academy, which has helped cultivate such dynamic and successful home-grown players as Javier Chicharito Hernandez. Aside from his coaching and academy experience, Real also produced a playing career that spanned over a decade in the Mexican soccer league.

While at the helm of Chivas de Guadalajara, the club competed in the Copa Libertadores in August 2010, and led the team in Estadio Omnilife-s inaugural match, in a friendly against Manchester United.

These changes mark the beginning of a new era for Chivas USA, where the ultimate commitment is to be at the forefront of all aspects, including athletic, development, and social responsibility, with the support of our proud and great Red-and-White fan base.

Chivas USA concludes its 2012 season when it travels to face FC Dallas, Sunday, Oct. 28 at FC Dallas Stadium. The match kicks off at 4:00 pm PT and will broadcast live on Galavision in Spanish.
