Hull City have spoken to the former Notts County, Cheltenham and Burnley boss Steve Cotterill about the vacant manager's position at the KC Stadium. However, key off-field developments at Portsmouth may determine Cotterill's immediate future.

Sources suggest Cotterill has agreed in principle to become their new manager.

And BBC Radio Humberside understands Cotterill will only be interviewed for the Hull job if Pompey fail to stave off liquidation in the High Court.

There has been no official comment from City or Cotterill.
