Match day 2 of the 2015/16 UEFA Champions League concluded on Wednesday night.
In Group A, favourites Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain kicked away from their lower ranked opponents to sit comfortably in first and second position respectively.
Madrid had to work hard for their 2-0 win over Malmo in Sweden but eventually did enough thanks to a brace from Cristiano Ronaldo who scored either side of the break to take his overall career tally to 501 goals.
The goals in the 29th and 90th minutes took his Champions League tally to 82 - a record - and equalled Raul's Real Madrid record of 323 goals.
In Ukraine, PSG cruised past Shakhtar Donetsk 3-0 thanks to a seventh-minute header from Serge Aurier, an accidental deflection from David Luiz and an own-goal from Darijo Srna as Zlatan Ibrahimovic bared down on goal in injury-time.
In Group B, Manchester United came from an early goal down to defeat Wolfsburg 2-1 at Old Trafford.
Daniel Caligiuri opened the scoring for the German club in the fourth minute before Juan Mata equalised a half-hour later from the penalty spot. The Spaniard then played a clever ball with the heel of his left foot to allow Chris Smalling to net the eventual winner from close range in the 53rd minute.
In Russia, CSKA Moscow strode out to a three-goal lead before a late double from Maxime Lestienne gave PSV Eindhoven some hope before eventually falling short 3-2, allowing the home side to secure their first points of the group stage.
Group C saw Astana become the first Kazakhstani side to record a point in Europe's top competition with a 2-2 home draw against Turkish giants Galatasaray while Benfica came from behind to beat Atletico Madrid 2-1 in Spain.
Manchester City also produced a come-from-behind win over Borussia Monchengladbach in Germany thanks to second-half goals from Nicolas Otamendi and Sergio Aguero to move to third on the Group D table as Juventus defeated Sevilla 2-0 in Turin to make it two wins from two.
