CHAMPIONS LEAGUE Ro16 2nd LEG: Juventus ease past brave Celtic

Juventus have progressed to the quarter-finals of the Champions League courtesy of tonight's 2-0 win over Celtic in Turin.

The Bianconeri led 3-0 after their clinical display in Glasgow three weeks ago and only added to that advantage with goals either side of half-time at the Juventus Stadium.

Alessandro Matri, who netted the opener in the first leg, sent the Old Lady on their way in the 24th minute when he tapped home into an open net after Hoops keeper Fraser Forster had kept out Fabio Quagliarella's left-footed snapshot.

That made life increasingly difficult for Neil Lennon's Celtic but they continued to push forward and almost snared an equaliser ten minutes prior to the break when Gary Hooper was unable to get on the end of Georgios Samaras' squared ball across goal.

For all Celtic's attempts to get back into the contest, Antonio Conte's Juventus side managed to end any glimmer of hope the Scottish champions had when Quagliarella made it 2-0 in the 65th minute by finishing Matri's low cross after he was played in by Andrea Pirlo.

Juventus now move into the final eight where they will join Real Madrid, Borussia Dortmund and Paris Saint-Germain with the remaining four yet to be determined.
